Shame finger at me

Wow it's already December gang and it's been quite sometime since my last post sorry about that.  Today I've decided to look back and post some records that I completely slept on when they originally came out.  Some of these records on the list I'm sure you good folks will be very disappointed that Murphy Winston slept on for one reason or another.  Yes I'm aware that the shame finger will be pointing my way.  But you know what?  It's all about education today!  I'm able to suck it up and admit I'm not a Mr know it all when it comes to music.  So on to the fun!

Spritualized- Ladies and Gentleman We Are Floating In Space (1997)

This album is frankly boss.  I know I should be ashamed that I slept on this album until now and I really haven't the slightest idea why this wasn't in regular rotation on the turntable.  This album is lush and full of life.  I can feel the shame fingers pointing in my direction as I type.  At least I'm appreciating it now right?

The Sword- Age Of Winters (2006)

I don't know how these guys slipped under my radar.  The Sword do a great impression of Black Sabbath!  But really, they put a little twist to their music that isn't completely ripping the Elder Gods.  This is just a fantastic heavy album.  It can get a bit same face at times but it's so much better than the same hipster sounding band from Californi-York-Cago.  What I'm trying to say is that this album has testicular fortitude.  I don't know if the fact that Pitchfork hates these guys makes me love them more.  I didn't really sleep on these guys, I just didn't know about them until about two weeks ago.  If you like Black Sabbath than you might love The Sword.  They have four albums to date and from      what I've listened to they are all pretty awesome.

Nas- The lost Tapes (2002)

I would have to say that this is the album on the list that I whole heatedly deserve the shame finger.  I say this because Ol' Murphy considers himself well versed on all thing hip-hop.  I heard finally gave this album a listen a few years back and was completely disgusted that I slept on this album.  This is Nas at his best since the release of "Illmatic".  Story telling is on point with this guy!  the fact it's called the lost tapes is why I didn't give it a chance back in 02 because usually albums with such a title tend to be throw away stuff from the artist that they decided to release just to make some extra cash.  Not this one!  It's full of bangers!  Rock this guy at full volume!

Neil Young- Americana (2012)

I was sleeping on this album until my good buddy J Marinelli brought it by my place to listen to.  And boy oh boy this album absolutely kills!  I'm not the only one that has slept on this album though.  Granted none of these tunes were originally his but he sure does turn them into his own songs!  One of my particular favorites on this album is "Get a Job".  Neil Young doing Doo-Wop?  Yes and they destroy it!  The entire album rules folks.  I am pleading with you guys to hunt this down and purchase a copy!

Well that's all the self shaming I'm going to put myself and you guys through today.  Hopefully you will jam each of these albums at full blast throughout today.

Hope the upcoming weeks leading to the Holidays and on to the New Year don't drag you down.
If they do though just play this song as loud as you can.  It should put a smile on your face.

Your best friend forever
