It's Saturday!

(In the voice of Long Duk Dong) What's a happening hot folks?  I woke up this morning with music on my mind and the fantastic revelation that today is Saturday.  Unlike most people out there my weekend really doesn't start until today.  Why do I say this?  It's because I don't have to work on Sunday, so I can really get loose tonight.  As I said, I woke up today with music on my mind so I immediately jumped out of bed took a shower, and ran down stairs to jam some music.  While blaring some Led Zeppelin at full blast I decided that today's post will be about some of my favorite weekend jams.  Hopefully you will agree these songs rule, and just maybe you'll rock some of these gems tonight.  First up the song that made me write this.

Led Zeppelin "Celebration Day"

The song is just tough.  It's what I like to describe as "music to make faces to",  when you listen to this track, everything, the guitars, bass line, vocals, and especially the drums make you crinkle up your face and say "ugh, this is so gnarly I need a face to smack!"

Beck "Nicotine and Gravy"

When I'm feeling really froggy I like to embarrass my lady by dancing like a disco freak in front of our friends to this song.  Bless that wonderful gal for putting up with my awful dance moves when we have company.

Beastie Boys "Shake Your Rump"

What's a good time without the Beastie Boys?  I think the title of the track speaks for itself.  Now Dance Fools!  R.I.P MCA

Iron Maiden "Flight of Icarus"

A fist pumping jam that never gets old.  Just like the other tracks I've posted this is not just a bro track.  I don't care what you think, I know some pretty hard ladies that will punch you in the face for looking at them sideways folks.  And guess what?  They love Maiden.  I guess this shouldn't really come as a surprise because Iron Maiden rules.

De La Soul " A Roller Skating Jam Named Saturdays"

I can't write about my favorite weekend songs with out mentioning this classic De La joint.  It's a song about roller skating folks.  What's more fun than that?  Check out the video if you are a non believer.

Super Furry Animals "Wherever I Lay Phone (That's My Home)"

This track reminds me of a hyper active Murphy Winston all jacked up on candy.  To put it simply...  It rules.
Bouncing drums all over the place, it might make you want to throw something.

Tupac "Hit Em' Up"

For those that are easily offended, I suggest you not listen to this song.  If you decide to listen to this track please make sure there are no kids in the room, it's pretty gangster, don't say I didn't warn you.  With that said, on to why I love this track!

I had to take a close up picture of the label on this guy because the writing is so tiny.  If the last track might make you want to throw something, this track will make you want to break the furniture, and punch your friend in the face!  I don't know why, but song this tends to only get played at my place on the weekend.  I don't know what it is about Tupac but I love to hear him talk a gang of smack.  Oh wait it's because Tupac rules!  No other rapper could talk trash like him and no one ever will.  You will always be missed Tupac Shakur, at least in my house hold anyway.

Of course I'm not suggesting that you only listen to these tracks on the weekend, that would be absurd.  These tracks for one reason or another remind me of the weekend.

Thanks again gang for letting me take some time out of your day to ramble on about the things that I love.  I hope you've enjoyed this blabber.

Your slightly touched friend,
